Nice Library, good for all the family.
Helpful staff, brilliant since renovation.I understand some of the frustrations of the other reviews but haven't experienced them. It's well thought out in placement of books & computers. There are accessibility issues due to its location where one of the one star reviews comes from. I assume this has been reported to council.Libraries are so underfunded I appreciate how much they do with little. I have can always order in a book I want and renew online. They have a couple of late evening opening so you can usually find time to visit.
My mother and her friend visited Arnold library on Friday afternoon, to attend a meeting of the Towns Womens Guild. As they do every month. They are both of advanced years, my mother is 89 and walks with the aid of a walking stick. Normally they can walk from the car park straight into the meeting room. However on this occasion they were turned away, and told to use the main entrance.Getting to the main entrance involved going down two flights of concrete stairs. They made down the first flight, but my mother fell near the bottom of the second flight. She cut both legs and banged her head, which was also cut. She doesn't remember the actual fall, just attempting to get down the stairs and then lying on the ground. She was taken to hospital by ambulance and checked over. It's a miracle she didn't break any bones, especially as she's just started receiving treatment for low bone density.Does health and safety not apply to visitors?
Superb for a small library.. plenty of PC'S and not too long wait to order in any books required. Found the staff to be very helpful. Remember change if you plan on doing any printing as there is none available on site.
We are visitors to Nottingham and needed to print off boarding passes. Previously we've used public libraries to do this. We found access to the library difficult from the car park as I am disabled. However, I negotiated the different stairways and was surprised at the facility, light modern and spacious. When enquiringly about the use of the computer I was told I had to be a member. I think the guy must have been new. He was really anxious to help. After getting permission from someone else we registered. The computers were on the first floor, more stairs! I was told I could use the lift but there have been problems !!! I did and there wasn't. After a complicated way to do the printing, my task was completed. The only concerning thing was that the angle of the computer screens were such that others nearby could read what was on my screen. Hey ho, life's not perfect. As I was leaving I saw a fire escape door on the first floor exiting to the car park. If I could leave via this it would really help and not be as painful or time consuming negotiating the stairway out side.I asked the lady at the desk if they had an exit from that floor to the car park. (She could see my mobility wasn't good). She said quite emphatically yes, but for staff only. I explained my difficulties and she said, staff only and there was a ramp from the main road.Disappointed !!!Facilities reasonable, some training needs are obvious.Ken Matthews
