I used to go to this school and the only positive thing I can think of about it, is the fact that we didn't need to wear uniforms. You may think "Wow this place looks great" or "Everyone looks so happy". Well don't be fooled because in reality most of the kids get bullied at some point, the teachers favour specific students just because their parents have something to do with the school itself and by the time you get out of this school to go to secondary you will have lost all your self-esteem and love for learning. Ontop of all that they hardly teach you anything worth while. Before I went to Iona I was super confident and enjoyed learning aswell as having a bunch of good friends but I lost all of that by going there. I was bullied quite badly and learnt not to trust anyone, my younger brother still goes to that mess of a school and it really hurts me to see him so isolated, granted he may be annoying but the way not only the kids treat him but also the teachers is utterly unacceptable. Now that I've left Iona I am still having issues because of how horribly I was treated. One of those issues being my mental health. I didn't realise it back then but it turns out I developed anxiety during my time there. So after wasting so much of my life in that hell hole people call a school, I would kindly advise you not to send your child here unless you want them to be bullied by both teachers and children, loose interest in almost everything, be mistreated and laughed at, end up with a limited knowledge on pretty much everything and all in all just wanting to die, then by all means go ahead. It's your money that is wasted in the end not mine.If you think that this is just one of those reviews where the person writing it is just sour because when they were little, Tommy took there pencil without saying please, then you're wrong. Because all the positive reviews are either because too many people can't face the truth or parents of kids who are to scared to tell them how it really is.
This school is a waste of money and time. I used to go here and was bullied horribly by teachers aswell as students. Never send your child here unless you want them to suffer.
Terrible school. Horrible teachers. Mean children. Waste of time.
One of the key things to remember about a school is that culturally they are all different, you have to choose a school right for your child. Originally I had sent my child to a supposedly 'Outstanding' school. She was not happy. I could see why, but I could also see why some would regard it highly: very regimented and assessment focused. This is not what I wanted for my children. After considering home-schooling, we chanced upon Iona. The patience and care from the staff is superb. The culture is caring and supportive but above all creative. My daughters (the 2nd has stared too) are thriving. The turn around of teachers is very, very low. People who work there truly believe in the school's ethos; that the child's own development comes first and they support that. All parents seem to have a similar ethos too, which regardless of labels and theories seems to be: let children grown in their own way and their own time. I can honestly say after being involved with the school for 3 years I've not read a single thing on what Stiener education is - I'm lucky to have worked in a lot of schools and completed visits in a supportive capacity to dozens (I'm a former Head)... and I've only ever seen one other school that comes close to the atmosphere and culture this one has (and that was a 22,000 a year private school) In a nut shell: It's a village school in the city. For us, it is super. Very grateful to have found it.
I went here when I was younger. The teachers are useless, bullying is a huge problem. And as for learning when I left to go to another school I couldn't spell the word "the" properly. To conclude send your kid to this school if you want them to learn to fight hoards of knuckle-draggers and if you want to make them consider suicide
