Conveniently located, the facilities are excellent and the staff are polite and helpful, unfortunately the same cannot be said of some of the members. A significant minority treat the facilities poorly. The changing rooms often smell fetid and some members have a habit of hacking, snorting amd spitting onto the floor in the shower area so swim footwear is a must, I learned this lesson the unpleasant and squishy way... sparingly few people appear to shower before entering the pool and the pool is sometimes a little dirty. Some behaviour, while disgusting, is at least entertaining in its brazen ridiculousness. My personal favourite is the man who shaves in the steam room, presumably he likes what the steam does to his pores. Shame about what his whiskers do to the seats... There is often chewing gum or tissue in the urinals and while I have never personally seen vandalism, the lockers are often broken. There is also a youth discount so expect large loud groups whose common past time is using the changing room as a debating chamber... And yes that is a euphemism. In summary there are some members who, despite presumably paying a reasonable membership fee, treat the facilities carelessly and even at times contemptuously. Unfortunately this detracts from what would otherwise be an excellent gym and pool. If you can put up with it, the facilities really are very good and the towel hire option, while not cheap, is reasonable for not having to lug about wet bags.
Great place for young and old. Friendly, big open spaced gym, well looked after, clean, with a lovely caf.
Great PT and floor team. Time to spend some cash though - the floor in the changing room looks dirty and the showers need refreshing. A fix would be cleaning them properly (the floor) and putting real tiles at the back (the old ones are covered in plastic sheeting) and turning the (currently hidden) lights back on between the cubicles would reinvent it back to its glory days - they glow and look amazing. Steam room never works well - good sauna. It could do with upgrading to the next level of club (after investment). Good classes. Coffee shop needs a healthier focus, coffee is unfortunately poor as is the staffs knowledge of making it. Interior wise its stunning.
Class instructors are brilliant. Unfortunately classes are often overcrowded (Body Pump) and the Yoga studio is too small. Changing rooms are in need of some renovation. Overall a good gym.
Excellent gym with a variety of classes and staff are always on hand to help out. The food at the restaurant is really good quality, if a little pricey, so it's great to have that option. Personal training pricing is competitive and the facilities are top notch. Plenty of long stay parking and convenient to walk to if you don't drive, with a fair few places to lock up your bike too. Would recommend for the gym goer who wants everything and doesn't mind paying a little extra.
